is a filmmaker and poet. In 2016 her poetry appeared in Contemporary Feminist Australian Poetry, The Disappearing 2.0 and Cordite, with her poem ‘Spider silk’ winning second equal in the Val Vallis Award. In her homeland she has published in Sport, Landfall, Best New Zealand Poems 2010, and the chapbook Small-Time Spectre. Her feature film credits as writer-director are Being Venice (2012)—nominated for the Age Critics Award, and Floodhouse (2004)—nominated for three AFIs and an AWGIE. Bad Baby Amy, a children’s animation written by Miro, received a BAFTA nomination in 2002; and her adaptation of Melville’s Bartleby (2001) won a Silver Medal at Bilbao International Film Festival. Miro recently completed a creative doctorate of arts at Western Sydney University in feature film narrative reconceived as ciné-poem. The outcome of that doctorate, the screenplay Joyriding is an impossible love story. It awaits production financing.
