About

WSU_Logo_CMYKPOETRY & POETICS is an initiative of the Writing and Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University.

We acknowledge the Darug People of the Darug Nation and their ancestors who for thousands of years have been Traditional Owners of the Country where much of WSU resides. We acknowledge and offer our respects to past and continuing Elders of the Darug People.

The Writing and Society Research Centre is a leading centre of poetry research and practice in Australia. Staff and students of the WSRC are recognised internationally as poets, scholars in poetry and poetics, translators, publishers of poetry and practitioners in digital and sound art. We are home to one of the most vibrant networks of postgraduate poets and poetry scholars in Australia, with links to many different national and international writing communities.

The Poetry & Poetics website gathers in one place the diversity of poetry research and practice being undertaken in the Writing and Society Research Centre, at WSU and in related communities. The Poetry & Poetics archive collates a range of audio-visual media and research resources from events, readings, seminars and conferences linked to the WSRC. Visitors to the archive can listen to poetry readings by leading poets, hear papers and keynote presentations from international and national conferences, review papers on poetry and poetics from the WSRC seminar series, or discover WSU staff members and graduate students whose research interests align with their own.

The Poetry & Poetics project was founded by Dr Kate Fagan. It is co-directed by Dr Kate Fagan and Dr Ben Etherington. The website and archive were built by Dr Ben Denham with the assistance of Dr Kate Fagan and Socorro Cifuentes.
